Major multiple trauma

Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals offer specialized treatment for patients whose functional abilities have been significantly affected by major multiple trauma.

How inpatient rehabilitation can help

Major multiple trauma injuries can include injuries to the head, chest, spine, internal organs, skin, or extremities in the wake of a motor vehicle, industrial, or another type of traumatic accident.

With special training in the assessment and treatment of patients with a variety of injuries, our interdisciplinary teams work together every day to create results-focused, individualized treatment programs that incorporate therapeutic disciplines and best practices.

For our major multiple trauma services, the Reunion team uses a combination of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy techniques to restore functional abilities and get you back to community life with as much independence as possible.

Treatment for major multiple trauma

Every major multiple trauma patient has unique physical, cognitive, psychological, social, and work-related levels of functioning. That’s why we never take a one-size-fits-all approach: We design individual plans of care for every patient, tailored to their needs.

Inpatient rehabilitation for major multiple trauma may use advanced hands-on care, virtual reality, and other advanced technologies to help with:

  • Physical therapy to regain movement, strength, and function of the affected body parts
  • Occupational therapy, which includes retraining everyday life skills required in the home, at work and within your community (loading a washer and dryer, preparing meals, bathing, or using electronic devices at home or work)
  • Speech and cognitive therapy to improve functional communication, orientation to environment, attention, and memory skills

Before your transition to Reunion, we work directly with acute-care discharge planners to streamline your admissions process.
